Field Based Experiences

Purpose

Field experiences are an important part of preparation for a teaching career.  Candidates in the Katy ISD TEA⁺CH Alternative Certification Program will have the opportunity to observe top-tier teachers and interact with students within the district.  These experiences will provide the opportunity to observe and interact in 50 hours of: 

• Various teaching methods and strategies
• Classroom management
• Professional teacher-student interactions
• Roles and responsibilities of teachers
• Student participation/engagement
• Learning environments
• Questioning strategies
• Learning styles
• Assessments
• Pacing/sequencing

• One-on-one
• Small group
• Teaching a full or partial lesson
• Practicing classroom management skills
