Field Based Experiences

 

Purpose

Field experiences are an important part of preparation for a teaching career.  Candidates in the Katy ISD TEA⁺CH Alternative Certification Program will have the opportunity to observe master teachers and interact with students within the district.  These experiences will provide the opportunity to observe and interact in 50 hours of: 

  • Various teaching methods and strategies
  • Classroom management
  • Professional teacher-student interactions
  • Roles and responsibilities of teachers
  • Student participation/engagement
  • Learning environments
  • Questioning strategies
  • Learning styles
  • Assessments
  • Pacing/sequencing

Interactive Engagement Activities

  • One-on-one
  • Small group
  • Teaching a full or partial lesson
  • Practicing classroom management skills
