Drive a school bus? Hardly anyone says "...I want to drive a school bus..." Most "to be" drivers learn that the particulars of school bus driving are; part-time work, home during the summer and school vacations, the district does the training and is a major helper for licensing. Daycare is available for $2.00 per day per child for children that are 18 months of age through elementary school age.

Title: School Bus Driver (C-5)
Starting Wage: $13.51/hour
Responsibilities:
Drive a school bus, on a split shift, in a safe and on time manner. Provide safe transit and on time delivery for the students of Katy ISD.
Qualifications:
- Be able to obtain a commercial drivers license and endorsements (Katy ISD will provide behind-the-wheel instruction and classroom assistance) and pass the Texas bus driver's training course.
- Be in good physical condition and be able to pass the yearly, required physical and drug test examinations (district paid).
- Be 21 years of age, high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Possess a driver's license.
Title: Nursery Worker (C-1)
Starting Wage: $8.58/hour
Responsibilities:
Provide care, custodianship, and stewardship to children during a split shift work day.
Title: Attendants for Special Buses (C-1)
Starting Wage: $8.58/hour
Responsibilities:
Provide logistical and educational assistance.
School Bus - assist in the loading/unloading of students to and from the bus, who are physically/mentally impaired.
School bus drivers hired by the Katy ISD Transportation Department must meet standards developed by Katy ISD and state law. All potential employees are subject to a criminal history record check, work history/personal background check, and are required to undergo drug and alcohol testing before being hired. A driver must also pass an annual physical examination. Katy ISD will help provide training for obtaining a C.D.L. license and the required 20 hour bus driver certification course.
