Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) - Greater Houston
Katy ADD/ADHD Support Group Meeting
The Attention Deficit Disorders Association-Southern Region (ADDA-SR) is a non-profit organization that offers support and education for those impacted by attention deficit disorders and related conditions, health professionals, and educators. To keep the public informed on the disorder, ADDA-SR provides a resource network, parent and adult support groups, education programs, member newsletter, advocacy, workshops and an annual conference.
The Katy Chapter of ADDA-SR holds its monthly support group meetings on the second Sunday of the month. The meetings are held 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Room S201 at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 20775 Kingsland Blvd.
Yahoo! Group – ADHDParentsGroup is also available for parents and others to ask questions, exchange information and discuss ADHD-related issues between scheduled meetings.

Parent to Parent
Parent to Parent is provided to allow parents the opportunity to contact other parents who have children with similar disabilities. As a parent new to the special education process or new to Katy ISD may contact parents on the Parent to Parent list. The parents on the list have volunteered to be a resource in helping other parents understand their child's disability and to work in partnership with the school.

Sibling Support Project
The Sibling Support Project of The Arc of the United States is pleased to announce SibNet and SibKids. SibNet and SibKids are the Internet's only listservs for and about brothers and sister of people with special health, developmental, and emotional needs.
Both SibKids (for younger brothers and sisters and SibNet (for older siblings allow brothers and sisters an opportunity to connect with their peers from around the world. Both listservs have members from the United States, Canada, Australia, England, Japan, and elsewhere. SibNet (started in 1996) and SibKids (started in 1997) are remarkably warm, thoughtful, and informative communities where young and adult brothers and sisters share information and discuss issues of common interest.
Anyone who has email can subscribe to SibKids and SibNet. Family to Family
Family to Family provides information and referral to resources; one to one technical assistance on understanding the IEP process; training on various topics that impact families of children with disabilities; an inter-generational mentoring program matching adults with a child with a disability; a leadership and advocacy training program for adults with disabilities and family and community members; on-line resources such as Texas Project FIRST created specifically for parents; quarterly newsletter; monthly e-digest of local events; and a lending library. Houston Osteoporosis Support Group
When: 1st Thursday morning of every month

We discuss the evaluation, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Information is presented at each meeting by medical experts. You will hear how others have learned to cope with disability and pain from osteoporotic fractures. You will have the opportunity to contribute your own ideas and ask all the questions you always wanted to ask, in a friendly informal setting.
The Compassionate Friends
The Compassionate Friends, a support group for families who have had a child die at any age and by any cause meets on the 1st Thursday of each month.
TCF is not religiously affiliated and meetings are free of charge. Doors open at 7 PM and the meeting starts at 7:30 PM TCF meetings are held at the John Burns Building of Kingsland Baptist Church at 20555 Kingsland Blvd., across from Taylor Highs tennis courts. NAMI Family to Family
Family Education Course:
This NAMI Family to Family 12 week Education Course (2 hrs. per week) is for family members of persons with bipolar (manic depression), anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, severe depression and other neurobiological disorders. For information, please call Vi 281-893-2493 or Debbie 713-849-5637.
Visions for Tomorrow
This FREE NAMI Texas Visions for Tomorrow 10 week Education Course (2 hrs. per week) is offered to parents/caregivers of children and adolescents with a wide range of brain disorders. Childhood depression, schizophrenia, ADD/ADHD. OCD, conduct disorder, PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder) are just a few of the disorders that will be covered. The materials also offer coping and communication skills, problem solving, rehabilitation and recovery. For information and to register for class, please call Bonnie Cord 713-932-1358.
Depression Bipolar Support Alliance
The Depression Bipolar Support Alliance has support groups that meet every week at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Drive. A daytime group meets Monday noon to 1:30 PM in W205. Evening groups meet Tuesday, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, in W204 and W205. A separate young peoples group, ages 18 to 24, meets 7:00 to 8:30 PM and Tuesday evenings, as well, in W103. Multiple Sclerosis Support Group
Bring your family and friends!! The Katy, Brookshire, Sealy, Fulshear, Richmond and Rosenberg Multiple Sclerosis Support Group Meeting meet on the 2nd Saturday of every month at the Holy Covenant United Methodist Church 10-11:30 AM. For more information, call 281-579-2372.
