Katy Independent School District

100 Year Anniversary

This website is a work in progres.

A Century of Legacy

The date was February 25, 1919. Enacted by the legislature of the State of Texas, the Katy Independent School District was established and created out of a part of Harris, Waller and Fort Bend Counties, Texas.

Armed with passion, dedication and commitment, a group of families around the Katy area had a vision. One that included leadership, service, an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for education. It’s not remarkable that the district has survived and thrived over a century. It’s a family tradition. A tradition with an emphasis and desire for something greater.

However, the vision becomes a reality only when a community comes together for a common goal – to provide experiences designed to prepare and inspire students. Over the years, thousands of dedicated men and women have joined with family and community to develop, shape and create opportunities for students. It’s the people that have made Katy ISD what it is today.

Our history proves a number of things, one of which is that we are capable of shaping the future. It's important to commemorate the contributions and experiences of the past. Each story left a mark that should not be forgotten.

Through words and photos we will document who we are that shapes where we are going. This legacy is what we celebrate.
