Information on Receiving a Ballot by Mail
To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, you must:
- be 65 years or older;
- be disabled;
- be out of the county on election day and during the period for early
voting by personal appearance; or
- be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.
You may open
this form (PDF, 38kb), print the application, fill in the information, sign
and date it. Put it in an envelope, add postage, and mail to the
Early Voting
Clerk in your county.

You can go to
http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/reqabbm.shtml and request that an
application for ballot by mail be sent to you. You must mail the application
to early voting clerk of the authority conducting the election.

OR You may also request a ballot by mail by sending a
letter to the voting clerk for your county listed above. The request must
include the following information:
- Name
- Residence address where registered to vote, including city, state and
zip code
- Mail ballot to address (if not same as residence address0
- County election precinct number (optional)
- Voter registration number (optional)
- Year of birth (optional)
- TYPE OF ELECTION: November 7, 2006 General Election & Katy ISD Bond
Election
- Reason for voting by mail - one of the following must be listed:
- 65 years of age or older
- Disability
- Confinement in jail
- Expected absence from the county
- If a voter's reason for voting by mail is listed as "expect to be
absent from the county on election day," then the ballot
must be mailed to an address outside the county. Include the date that
the ballot can be received at the address given.
- Date (if an application is submitted after early
voting is person has begun, the application must be
submitted to the early voting clerk from an address or by fax machine
from outside of the county.
- Requests must be signed by the person requesting the ballot
(requests made without the signature of the person requesting the ballot
will not be processed)
