Time Allotments

The time allotments listed are guidelines and may be adjusted for integrated curriculum. Because learning to read is the primary focus during kindergarten and first grade, social studies and science will often be integrated into the language arts block as non-fiction literature is studied. A separate time allotment for kindergarten and first grade science and social studies will be designated in weekly lesson plans if additional hands-on activities are needed to supplement the concepts taught during the language arts block. Principal’s approval is required when making significant changes. Grades must be given in each required area each six weeks.

A. Pre-Kindergarten School Hours: 8:20 a.m. – 11:20 a.m. or 12:40 p.m. – 3:40 p.m.
B. Kindergarten and First Grade School Hours: 8:20 a.m. – 3:40 p.m.

C. Second and Third Grade School Hours: 8:20 a.m. – 3:40 p.m.

D. Fourth and Fifth Grade School Hours: 8:20 a.m. – 3:40 p.m.

Katy ISD elementary physical education students engage in at least 30 minutes per school day, or 135 minutes of physical activity weekly, depending on the campus.
