2011-12 Registration Dates and Times

Pre-Enrollment

Katy ISD parents who plan to enroll new students for the 2011-12 school year now have the option to pre-enroll their children online. By pre-enrolling online, basic information about your child will already be in the system when you enroll your child. The main purpose for this option is to cut down on paperwork and clerical errors, and will save parents time when they enroll their children in August.

Parents are still required to provide the mandatory immunization and residential documentation in person at their designated campus during August registration. Pre-enrollment is NOT a substitute for regular enrollment. You must still enroll your child at the campus they will attend during the August registration.

General Requirements

Pre-Kindergarten

To qualify for the pre-kindergarten program, the child must reside in Katy ISD and be four years old on or before September 1 of the current school year. The child must also meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Limited English proficient because a language other than English is the primary language spoken in the home. Students qualifying by language will be tested on the day of registration to determine placement in the program.
  • Qualify according to the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. Parents must bring proof of income of all persons employed within the home (documentation for at least one month of income). Proof of income can include current check stubs, child support statement of payment, SNAP qualification letter, etc. All those who qualify by income at spring registration must have their income re-verified in August at the pre-k campus they will attend.
  • The family is homeless.
  • Have a parent who is an active member of the armed forces. Parent must present their Department of Defense photo identification (military ID). An active member of the Texas National Guard must provide a "Statement of Service" document.
  • The child is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. A letter from DFPS must be provided.
