Trails

There are many wooded nature trails found in the 34.5 acre Outdoor Learning Center site. The trees, shrubs, and woody vines are used by science students in dichotomous key plant identification lessons. The students learn to identify plant characteristics which helps them identify the plants along the trails. Students also gain field experience by using the various plants to collect data on trunk circumference, height, etc. Along the trails are many wooden walkways and bridges built by Eagle Scouts as projects. The wooded areas are inhabited by gray and fox squirrels, cottontail and swamp rabbits, raccoons, fox, opossums, deer, armadillos, coyotes, bobcats, feral hogs, and many species of birds.
