Employment Process
The Certified online application is for use by teachers, administrators, and other professionals applying for a position. The Classified online application is for use by auxiliary or paraprofessional applicants. You may apply online. Click on "Employment" to access the online application. If you have questions about the online application, you may contact Peggy Schulin at peggyschulin@katyisd.org or call 281-396-2347.
Application Process
Once your application is received in Human Resources, processing begins. This can take from two to four weeks and includes sending for references and completing the criminal history check. Though principals will still be able to view your application immediately after you have applied, your application will not be considered complete until all of the supporting documents have been received by our office.
Hiring Process
Only offers for employment from Human Resources to an applicant are valid offers. You will be notified by Human Resources if you are to receive an offer of employment. Applicants that are not selected are not notified; however, you may contact Human Resources (281-396-2347) at any time to find out the status of a position.
Interview Process
In order to make the interview/hiring process as streamlined as possible, please do not contact principals directly by telephoning or just "stopping by" his/her office. Principals are very busy, especially during the spring hiring season; however, as an optional activity, you may send a principal a written letter of interest with a resume. A list of addresses is available through the Katy ISD Web Page.
Timelines
Katy ISD accepts applications twelve months a year. Applications are processed throughout the year, and hiring takes place throughout the year. As would be expected, the busiest hiring time is in the spring for the following school year. Most spring hiring is done in April, May and June; therefore, applicants interested in being considered for the fall hiring should turn in an application as early as January. Teaching contracts usually begin about the first week of August.
