JA Program Options in Katy ISD

Elementary Program

Weekly method; the program consists of 5 lessons, 45 minutes each. This would equate to 5 different visits once a week for 5 weeks to your assigned classroom.

JA in a Day method; all 5 lessons are taught in a day. This may be set up as a rotation method. Therefore, the volunteer will only have to prepare 1 or 2 lessons and teach them multiple times to a rotating group of students or the volunteer may teach all 5 lessons in one day. How the lessons are delivered is up to each campus to determine.

Secondary Program

6th Grade Day with JA: This program is all taught in one day, you will teach only one JA lesson multiple times throughout the day to a rotating group of students. There will be other volunteers on this day teaching the other components of the program, so by the end of the day, the students will have received all of the lessons.

JA Finance Park – Virtual – 12th Grade; One-day high school event, for this program, volunteers will teach a 3 lesson curriculum to the students. However, each lesson will be taught by a different volunteer. In this setup, a volunteer would teach one of the three lessons all day multiple times as the students rotate for each of a teacher's different class periods over the course of one day.

Lesson 1: Superstar! – Learning the Importance of a budget
