The Office of Other Languages seeks to provide excellence in education for English Language Learners through:
service rooted in integrity and innovation,
advocacy for ELLs and their families, and
affirmation and advancement of the strengths of a diverse community.
The department supports the District's mission and provides equal educational access for English Language Learners and their families. By recognizing that students, parents, educators and community members all share in the responsibility of ensuring that English Language Learners develop linguistic, cognitive and academic skills to become competitive citizens of our society, students whose first language is not English participate in unparalleled learning experiences that promote respect and build upon the unique cultural and linguistic attributes they bring to the learning community.
