Grades 2-12
Admission to grades 2-12 is based on residency, age, previous academic records, and the student’s readiness to perform successfully at the assigned level.
New resident students entering the District from an accredited school must provide evidence of prior schooling outside the District. Students are placed initially at the grade level reached elsewhere or the appropriate grade based on the credits earned.
Students entering the District from an unaccredited school, including home school, shall be placed initially at the discretion of the principal, pending observation by classroom teacher (s), guidance personnel, and the principal. Additionally, high school students will be required to take placement tests to validate credits earned in the core areas of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Students who completed the previous school year in Katy ISD and who will be enrolling in a different Katy ISD school due to a change in residency must provide proof of residency for the new address to the campus at which the student is enrolling.
