The Duck Pond

The Duck Pond encompasses 1.2 acres and is manmade. The depth ranges from one foot to 15-20 feet. The pond has two piers and one bridge. Below are some interesting facts about the pond!

Inhabitants include: large mouth bass, channel catfish, bullhead catfish, blue catfish, various sunfish, turtles, non-venomous water snakes, venomous water moccasin, domestic and wild water fowl, egrets, herons, various aquatic insects and arthropods.

Uses for science lessons

  • Collecting microscopic aquatic organisms
  • Water turbidity studies
  • Measuring distances and calculating areas in square feet, square yards, square meters, and acres
  • Measuring oxygen levels
  • Collecting water samples for various tests

Uses for summer recreation

  • Canoeing skills classes
  • Fishing skills classes
