Kindergarten Belief
Statements
Katy ISD offers a full-day
kindergarten program to address the needs and requirements for
student learning in kindergarten. The state reading initiative mandates
that students are required to read on
grade level by the end of third grade. The Katy ISD kindergarten
curriculum addresses these academic challenges and supports the
portrait of a KISD graduate while
providing a learning environment appropriate for a kindergarten
student's age and stage of development.
The full-day program provides
daily instruction in fine arts and physical education with KISD
teachers certified in these special areas. Kindergarten students eat
in the cafeteria and ride the bus both to and from school each day.
The Katy ISD
kindergarten program is committed to continued excellence as it helps
students achieve and exceed academic goals set by the state, while
providing a nurturing and positive learning environment that
benefits all KISD kindergarten students.
The
philosophy of
the Katy ISD Kindergarten program
is to provide all kindergarten students with
a strong foundation necessary to become successful
in all academic areas through a balanced,
aligned and integrated curriculum that is
developmentally-appropriate and creates life-long
learners who contribute to a rapidly changing
world. |
