Katy ISD to Celebrate Mentors at Ties & Tiaras
2012 Mentors of the Year to be announced

(Jan. 30, 2012) – Katy ISD will celebrate KEYS mentors, while supporting KEYS Scholarships, at Ties & Tiaras on March 1, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Agave Road, located at 1016 FM 1463 in Katy.  This year’s festivities include the announcement of the 2012 Mentors of the Year, along with back-to-back entertainment provided by Katy ISD high school performers.  Guests will be treated to mocktails and hors d’oeuvres provided by Hasta La Pasta.

The annual Ties & Tiaras event honors Katy ISD’s family of mentors who spend one hour each week with their students.  Revenue from tickets sales, along with support from local corporate donors, benefits the KEYS Scholarship Fund.  Ties & Tiaras 2012 Platinum Sponsors include Firethorne, Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union and the Pratt Family.

Since its inception in 2006, the KEYS Scholarship Fund has awarded $77,000 to graduating KEYS seniors.  KEYS – Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success – is an initiative for that matches a deserving child with a caring adult.  The two meet each week on campus, during the school day, during the school year.

KEYS and KEYS Scholarships are offered by Partners in Education, the Katy ISD department that brings the community into the classroom.  Please go to www.katyisd.org and click on the “Ties & Tiaras” logo to RSVP, see a list of our corporate sponsors and learn about becoming a KEYS mentor.   Additional questions may be directed to Martha Brown at marthabrown@katyisd.org or (281) 396-2468.
