Katy ISD Students Selected as Texas All-State Musicians

(Feb. 3, 2012) – A total of 40 Katy ISD student musicians have been selected to perform in 2012 Texas All-State Music ensembles.  These students competed against more than 60,000 musicians who initially entered the All-State competitive process. All-State performances will be held as part of the annual Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic/Convention on Feb. 8-11 at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio.  Every Katy ISD High School will be represented in the elite ensembles this year.

Congratulations to the following students who will represent Katy ISD in All-State ensembles:

All-State Band: Lauren Bush, Sang Han, Anne Theil, Elizabeth Bebow, Zach Luftop, Blake Meynig, Mark Jablinski, Ingram Lee IV, Victor Medina, Camilo Sanchez, Alex Van Dyke, Matthew Korioth, Gary Yen, David Burrough and Luka Zecevic. These students are led by Directors Michael Ouellette (Cinco Ranch HS), Terence Gorton (Katy HS), James Dolnik (Mayde Creek HS), Kyle Coleman (Morton Ranch HS) and Christopher Bailey (Taylor HS).

All-State Choir: Lindsay Bartlett, Zane Hill, Eric Morgan, Melanie Mozer, Madison Rice, David Tait, Erin Dunnahoo, Jacquelyn Masse, Kayla O'Rourke, Zachary Burch, Jasmine Johnson, Melanie Piché.  These students are led by Directors Dorothy Wilson (Cinco Ranch HS), Shannon Carter (Seven Lakes HS) and Kevin Riehle (Taylor HS)

All-State Orchestra: Connie Ge, Chris King, Heather Leung, Indy Rajan, Katherine Yu, Roman Soto, Matthew Chang, Patrick Song, Helen Xu, Alan Yang, Isaac Kim, Austin Kuo and Jonathan Lim.  These students are led by Directors Brett Nelson (Cinco Ranch HS), Michael Jones (Mayde Creek HS), Desiree Overree (Seven Lakes HS) and George Engelmann (Taylor HS).

These students will be recognized at the February 27 Katy ISD Board of Trustees meeting for this outstanding achievement.
