Mitzi Jones receives the award for Texas Music Administrator of the Year. |
- (Dec. 18, 2012) – Katy ISD Assistant Director of Fine Arts, Mitzi Jones, was recently named Texas Music Administrator of the Year by the Texas Music Administrators Conference. The announcement took place during the closing activities of the Texas Music Administrators Conference annual fall retreat, and Jones was recognized during the December Katy ISD Board of Trustees Meeting.

- The Texas Music Administrator of the Year award recognizes the outstanding service and dedication Jones provides to local music teachers, students and community, as well as the leadership she provides to numerous other music teachers and school districts across the state. She will be recognized during the 2013 Texas Music Educators Association Annual Clinic and Convention, February 13-16, 2013, in San Antonio.

- Jones has served as the Assistant Director of Fine Arts in
- Katy ISD since 1998. Prior to that, she served as an elementary music specialist at Bear Creek, Winborn, Nottingham Country, and Fielder Elementary Schools, as well as The Village School, in Houston.

- The Texas Music Administrators Conference is the state professional organization for those serving as music supervisors throughout Texas. Numbering over 100 members, the organization seeks to provide to its members and school districts the highest quality of resources, teaching strategies, best assessment practices, technology applications, instrument sources, and standards for providing quality music education to all children throughout Texas.
