Board Approves 2013-14 Instructional Calendar

(Dec. 19, 2012) – The Katy ISD Board of Trustees this week approved the 2013-14 Instructional Calendar.  Under the approved calendar, elementary campuses will keep the four grading periods first introduced during the 2012-13 academic year.  Secondary campuses remain on the current six grading period structure.

The new structure will not impact the academic calendar as both elementary and secondary schools will have the same start date, end date, early release days and holidays.

“Moving from six to four grading periods for elementary was new last year and feedback has been positive,” said Katy ISD Chief Academic Officer Christine Caskey, Ed.D. “The extension of the grading periods has provided extra instructional time before grades are earned, which has been invaluable for elementary students, especially as we transition to new state assessments.
