Attendance Boundary Modification - Sibling Transfers
As part of the Attendance Boundary Modification process for Seven Lakes, Cinco Ranch and Taylor High Schools, younger siblings will be allowed a sibling transfer to the high school that an older sibling currently attends so long as the siblings will both be in high school at the same time.
Due to the fact that during the spring months, the high school campuses are actively planning for next school year including course selection, placing students in performance groups, and hiring staff according to enrollment projections, it is important to know about incoming freshmen students quickly. Therefore the sibling transfer process will be handled differently for current eighth grade students than for younger siblings currently in grade 7 or below. The following details the process to follow related to a sibling transfer.
Current 8th Grade Students
8th grade students who have a sibling in grades 9 – 11 at Seven Lakes High School or Cinco Ranch High School can apply for the sibling transfer to attend the same school as the older sibling by completing the Sibling Transfer Request form. The transfer is permanent and the 8th grade student will remain at the selected school for all of his/her high school years. Because of the need to stabilize enrollment and plan appropriately, your 8th grade child is expected to remain at the selected school and cannot simply choose to move to the neighborhood school in later years. The Sibling Transfer Request form must be accurately completed and submitted to:
Mr. O.D. Tompkins, Jr.
Katy ISD Educational Support Complex
6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, TX 77494
Please discuss this one-time option carefully as a family.
Younger Siblings
Younger siblings will be eligible for a sibling transfer so long as they will be concurrently enrolled in the high school with an older sibling for at least one year. As described above, the transfer will be permanent and the student will be expected to remain at the selected high school for all of his/her high school years. Sibling transfers for siblings in grades 7 and below, requested because of the Spring 2010 boundary modifications, will be processed through the standard district transfer procedures. Parents will request this transfer during the younger siblings 8th grade year.
In order to assist us in planning at all three high schools, and to expedite our registration process for classes for the 2010 - 2011 school year, completed applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010. Please return the transfer request form to:
Mr. O.D. Tompkins, Jr.
