Katy ISD "No Texting and Driving" Video Receives Innovation AwardKaty ISD "No Texting and Driving" Video Receives Innovation Award2017-12-12T01:28:12Z<div class="ExternalClass82D7DE86B28D4008A11E372D6C08BD77"><p></p><p style="text-align:left;"><span>T</span><span>he Katy Independent School District receives the 2017 Risk Ma</span><span>nagement Innovation Award for its "No Texting and Driving" video. </span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">The Risk Management Department, along with employees from Communications, Human Resources, Curriculum and Instruction and the Katy ISD Police Department produced the video to provide awareness of the new "no texting and driving" statewide law which took effect on September 1, 2017.  The video was distributed to over three million people as well as to the top 100 school districts in the nation.  Prior to the law taking effect the video was disseminated to all Katy ISD schools and till this day it is used as an informative piece to save lives.</p><p>Click here to view the <a href="https://youtu.be/ckcrcZG61rs">"No Texting and Driving" video</a>.​</p><p><img src="/PublishingImages/Lists/latestnews/AllItems/IMG_0294%20-%20smaller%20for%20web.jpg" alt="IMG_0294 - smaller for web.jpg" style="margin:5px;" />​<br></p><p>(Attribution from left to right:  Bill Lacy, Board of Trustee, Brandy Richard, Employee Relations Coordinator for Human Resources, Tiffany Shirey, English Language Arts Teacher at Paetow High School and Lance Nauman, Director of Katy ISD Risk Management.)</p></div>

PASA Project Continued Growth in Katy ISDPASA Project Continued Growth in Katy ISD2017-12-05T02:24:28Z<div class="ExternalClass0E2E0DA5FE5D4FA98D13BBD60E6F2FC1"><p>​<span style="text-align:justify;">During the December Katy ISD Board of Trustees meeting, Population and Survey Analysts (PASA) presented the Katy Independent School District 2017 Demographic Update an</span><span style="text-align:justify;">d provided student enrollment projections for the upcoming years.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;">According to PASA, Katy ISD is expected to reach nearly <strong>100,000</strong> students by 2027.  Based on the current growth rate, Katy ISD has been ranked second in adding students in Texas.  During the past five years, over 13,000 new students have enrolled in Katy ISD, more than any other school district in the Greater Houston area.  By September 2017, Katy ISD ranked fourth in adding new single family housing.  While the district is currently 65% built out, PASA projects the majority of all remaining growth in Katy is expected to take place in the northwest quadrant of the district.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Katy ISD works closely with PASA to determine attendance boundary modifications needed as the district continues to grow and new schools are added.</p></div>
