Katy ISD Safety Net System

The Safety Net is a provision for KISD students or parents to anonymously report or notify school officials of incidents or actions that may pose danger to individuals or the school. The Safety Net begins with the use of a form that is completed and returned to the counseling office. Safety Net forms can be found on the Tays Junior High website under “Other Links” or by scanning the QR code in the counseling window.

Important Information Regarding High School Credit Courses Taken at Jr. High

As you and your student select courses that will earn High School credit, we want to make you aware of some information regarding high school elective credit courses available at Tays Jr. High that will enable you to make the best choices.

All high school credit courses available for junior high students are for academic credit only; none are taught at the PreAP level. Katy ISD's grade point system includes weighted credit for PreAP grades. For example, an "A" earned in a PreAP course is worth 5 grade points, whereas an "A" earned in an academic course is valued at 4 grade points. All courses for high school credit are permanently recorded on the student's transcript.

Regardless of whether the courses are taken in junior high or in high school, there are no weighted grade point options for Algebra I or the first two levels of any Languages other than English, all of which are required for all students.
