PASA Project Continued Growth in Katy ISDPASA Project Continued Growth in Katy ISD2017-12-05T02:24:28Z<div class="ExternalClass0E2E0DA5FE5D4FA98D13BBD60E6F2FC1"><p>​<span style="text-align:justify;">During the December Katy ISD Board of Trustees meeting, Population and Survey Analysts (PASA) presented the Katy Independent School District 2017 Demographic Update an</span><span style="text-align:justify;">d provided student enrollment projections for the upcoming years.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;">According to PASA, Katy ISD is expected to reach nearly <strong>100,000</strong> students by 2027.  Based on the current growth rate, Katy ISD has been ranked second in adding students in Texas.  During the past five years, over 13,000 new students have enrolled in Katy ISD, more than any other school district in the Greater Houston area.  By September 2017, Katy ISD ranked fourth in adding new single family housing.  While the district is currently 65% built out, PASA projects the majority of all remaining growth in Katy is expected to take place in the northwest quadrant of the district.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Katy ISD works closely with PASA to determine attendance boundary modifications needed as the district continues to grow and new schools are added.</p></div>
Voters Approve Katy ISD $609.2 MM ReferendumVoters Approve Katy ISD $609.2 MM Referendum2017-11-08T17:00:35Z<div class="ExternalClassAC729317CC50426DB3BDEC71E3C3AF37"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">On Tuesday night, voters approved the Katy Independent School District's 2017 bond which will provide relief to campuses managing a rapidly growing student population, along with renovations and improvements for 61 campuses.</span><span style="text-align:justify;">  </span><span style="text-align:justify;">According to unofficial results, the $609.2 MM bond passed by an approximate 65% voter approval.</span><span style="text-align:justify;">  </span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">"Katy ISD is the second fastest growing school district in the state of Texas," said Superintendent Lance Hindt. "Families continue to move to Katy because of the quality learning opportunities our teachers and staff provide to each and every student.  This bond will help to ensure that our community's expectations for high educational standards and schools are maintained now, and well into the future."</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The District's 2017 bond comes with a zero tax rate increase and is designed to address fast growth and aging facilities. It includes six new schools, one comprehensive renovation, along with repairs and upgrades to 61 campuses.  Bond funds will also provide many campuses with safety and security improvements, and school expansions at Raines High School and Katy High School's Career and Technical Education program (CTE). Technology and infrastructure upgrades are also included for all Katy ISD schools, as well as replacement of aging buses and portables, and fuel storage tanks.  Ninety-one percent (91%) of bond funds will directly impact campuses and student learning.</p></div>
Katy ISD Sweeps List of Top 15 Elementary Schools in Houston AreaKaty ISD Sweeps List of Top 15 Elementary Schools in Houston Area2017-10-27T17:09:12Z<div class="ExternalClassF9C90334951D46ADB60E2C7102B79B42"><p>​<span style="text-align:justify;">It's no secret that families are moving to Katy ISD because of the quality education being offered at its schools.  Once again Katy ISD dominates in the Niche rankings by sweeping the list of Top 15 Elementary Schools in the Houston area.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Niche, an educational data analysis site, compiles data from the Department of Education as well as student and teacher surveys to determine the list of top schools.  The following Katy ISD elementary schools made the list:</p><ol><li>Fred & Patti Shafer Elementary</li><li>Bonnie Holland Elementary</li><li>Woodcreek Elementary</li><li>Tom Wilson Elementary</li><li>Odessa Kilpatrick Elementary</li><li>Joella Exley Elementary</li><li>Nottingham Country Elementary</li><li>Stanley C. Pattison Elementary</li></ol><p style="text-align:justify;">Katy ISD has a total of 40 elementary schools.</p></div>
