Katy ISD Superintendent Finalist Signs ContractKaty ISD Superintendent Finalist Signs Contract2016-07-05T19:15:29Z<div class="ExternalClassC263E80DBB0E486CA3A5A2DE094DF9DC"><p>​<strong style="line-height:1.5;">Dr. Lawrence Hindt</strong><span style="line-height:1.5;">, lone finalist for the superintendent position at Katy ISD, signed his contract as presented by the Board of Trustees d<span style="font-size:14px;line-height:1.5;">uring a special board meeting on Friday, July 1</span>.</span></p><p>"Today is a very happy day for Katy ISD," said Rebecca Fox, President of the Board of Trustees.  A unanimous vote of 4-0 solidified the hiring of Dr. Hindt, who is also a graduate of Taylor High School, located within the district.  He will begin his role as superintendent of Katy ISD on August 1, 2016.</p><p>Dr. Hindt has served as superintendent of Allen ISD since March 2014. Under his leadership, the school district has earned numerous awards and recognitions, including being named as a finalist in the 2016 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program and a finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education School Board Award.  The Dallas Morning News also named Allen ISD as one of the Top 100 Places to Work in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2015. </p><p>Prior to his role at Allen ISD, Dr. Hindt served as superintendent of schools for the Stafford Municipal School District since May 2011.  </p><p>He began his career at Fort Bend ISD as a geography, health and physical education teacher at Dulles High School.  He later became assistant principal at the school and was promoted to director of the Fort Bend ISD Technical Education Center.  He then served as principal of Dulles High School until his appointment as assistant superintendent in 2007. </p><p>Dr. Hindt completed his post-doctorate work in educational leadership at Lamar University in Beaumont and earned his doctorate from the University of Houston, his master's degree from Prairie View A&M University and his undergraduate degree from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.</p></div>
Katy ISD Education Foundation Establishes Alton Frailey Endowment FundKaty ISD Education Foundation Establishes Alton Frailey Endowment Fund2016-06-16T13:46:34Z<div class="ExternalClass6383904709DD438A90532D5AB18BC4DE"><p style="text-align:justify;">The Katy ISD Education Foundation recently established the <strong>Alton Frailey Endowment Fund </strong>honoring the retiring Katy ISD Superintendent. Frailey played a pivotal role in the Education Foundation's launch during his tenure as superintendent.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">The fund will provide a solid financial base for Foundation operations and the organization's <em>Inspiring Imagination</em> teacher grant program.  Contributions to the fund are currently being accepted. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">The Katy ISD Education Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization for which donations are tax deductible.
