Katy ISD Helps Parents and Students Save Money for College.Katy ISD Helps Parents and Students Save Money for College.2017-01-20T19:10:08Z<div class="ExternalClass433A27CEBCC84D7AAF234500C8CE7DCE"><p style="text-align:center;"><em>2017 Financial Information Academy FREE for Katy ISD Parents</em></p><p style="text-align:left;"><em></em><span>Parents and students interested in learning how to save money for college, how to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and how to apply for scholarships are encouraged to attend the 2017 Financial Information Academy.</span><span>  </span><span>Representatives at this event will also be able to answer questions about student loans and help families determine which ones will best serve their student's educational funding needs.</span><span>  </span><span>Registration is not required and the event is </span><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>FREE</strong></span><span> for all parents of KISD students.</span></p><p><strong>Where:</strong>  </p><p>Katy ISD Education Support Complex</p><p>Staff Development Entrance</p><p>6301 S. Proclamation 2017 Parent InputProclamation 2017 Parent Input2017-01-18T16:44:49Z<div class="ExternalClass9E5D752192594B0D8AD18B096AB5F8F0"><p>​​Proclamation 2017 includes instructional materials for Career and Technical Education, Languages Other Than English, Algebraic Reasoning, Statistics, AP English Language and Composition, and AP English Literature and Composition. These materials will be implemented during the 2017- 2018 school year. Instructional materials under consideration will be on display during business hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) for parent and community input at the Education Support Complex from January 9-27, 2017. In addition, instructional materials will be available for review from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, Thursday, January 19, 2017 and Thursday, January 26, 2017.</p></div>
Seven Katy ISD Students Earn Highest Possible ACT ScoreSeven Katy ISD Students Earn Highest Possible ACT Score2017-01-17T16:52:05Z<div class="ExternalClassE5A8D7B1A8754463BD7A039C9A2A6F02"><p></p><p style="text-align:justify;">This year seven Katy ISD high school students earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36.  On average, less than .1 percent of all test takers earn the top score. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Only 2,235 out of the nearly 2.1 million students who took the ACT in 2016 earned a composite score of 36.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">"Your achievement on the ACT is significant and rare," said ACT Chief Executive Officer Marten Roorda, in a letter recognizing the students' exceptional achievement.  "While test scores are just one of multiple criteria that most colleges consider when making admission decisions, your exceptional ACT composite score should prove helpful as you pursue your education and career goals."</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The following Katy ISD students earned a perfect score on the ACT:</p><p><strong>Seven Lakes High School</strong></p><ul><li>Luis Alfonso Pabon Madrid, 11<span style="font-size:10.5px;line-height:0;vertical-align:baseline;top:-0.5em;">th</span> grade</li><li>Dora Cecilia Gurfinkel, 12<span style="font-size:10.5px;line-height:0;vertical-align:baseline;top:-0.5em;">th</span> grade</li><li>Clio Sun, 12<span style="font-size:10.5px;line-height:0;vertical-align:baseline;top:-0.5em;">th</span> grade</li><li>Justin Zhang, 12<span style="font-size:10.5px;line-height:0;vertical-align:baseline;top:-0.5em;">th</span> grade</li></ul><p><strong>Cinco Ranch High School</strong><br></p><ul><li>Russell Ku, 11<span style="font-size:10.5px;line-height:0;vertical-align:baseline;top:-0.5em;">th</span> grade</li><li>Samuel Shenoi, 12 grade</li></ul><p><strong> Taylor High School</strong></p><ul><li>Richard Liu, 12<span style="font-size:10.5px;line-height:0;vertical-align:baseline;top:-0.5em;">th</span> grade</li></ul><p style="text-align:justify;">The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, each scored on a scale of 1-36.  Exceptional scores of 36 provide colleges with evidence of student readiness for the academic rigors that lie ahead.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Click <a href="http://tinyurl.com/hd8ttda">here</a> to view pictures of these great achievers.</p><p> </p></div>
