Mind of a Champion: coping with the pressure and stress of academic demands and living a balanced life.Mind of a Champion: coping with the pressure and stress of academic demands and living a balanced life.2014-02-17T16:44:10Z

Mastering the rigors, expectations and demands of high level academics is no small achievement. It is easy to recognize the similarity in the mental strengths required of an athletic champion and an academic champion. Last spring when Robert Andrews first presented in Katy, the virtually unanimous response of the audience was how beneficial his message would be for students. Although Mr. Andrews' primary area of expertise is sports, his techniques for improving performance translate easily to academics. Working with the mind and heart of his client, Mr. Andrews is able to improve clarity and focus, enhancing the ability to function in a competitive environment. This program, "The Mind of a Champion", will be an interactive, eye-opening opportunity for students to recognize mental and emotional roadblocks to their success. Timed to aid in preparation for spring testing, we highly recommend this session for all GT-identified junior high school students!

*Please note: This is a student only session. Parents are welcome to join us for coffee and conversation about high school and beyond while students are working with Mr. Andrews.

Founder and director of The Institute of Sports Psychology, Robert Andrews has been in private practice as a sports psychology consultant and psychotherapist for 18 years. Throughout his years of working with athletes, both he and his athletes have seen how the tools he provides extend off the field and into their lives, including their academic pursuits. His extensive training in performance enhancement in athletics translates well into academics.

March 5, 2014, 7 PM - 9 PM

Taylor High School

(Ninth Grade Cafeteria)

20700 Kingsland Blvd.

Katy, TX 77450

Cost: $20 (includes pizza and refreshments!)

Pre-registration is required and limited to 75 students.

For more information or to register, please visit www.kpgt.org.
