Redesigned STAAR Report Cards Redesigned STAAR Report Cards 2017-05-19T15:33:35Z<div class="ExternalClass1CC69AB545F2458E975417D0DF9FA3C2"><p>The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has redesigned the STAAR report cards also referred to as confidential student reports (CSRs) to improve communication and transparency with educators and families.  The goal of this new design was to create a family-friendly report on student progress, specifically highlighting growth and improvement.  The new two-page CSR features are listed below:</p><ul><li>Growth and progress information</li><li>A summer reading list</li><li>Lexile levels and trend data</li><li>New performance level descriptors </li><li>Resources and suggestions for parents to use at home</li><li>Suggested questions for parents to ask teachers and counselors </li></ul><p>At this time, TEA has published <a href="http://tea.texas.gov/studentreport/">learning resources</a> which include a short video to explain the changes, as wells as, a link to download the presentation and talking points, templates of STAAR report cards for each grade, and online tools and resources. The new CSRs will be available online beginning June 13, 2017 for STAAR EOC and June 30, 2017 for STAAR 3-8.</p><p>On June 13th, TEA is also launching a new CSR website, which will include item-level analysis for each question on the STAAR, informational videos, and links to additional resources. For the first time, parents and teachers who log in will be able to see actual test questions from the current year's STAAR exam. They will also find information on boosting reading levels and developing student-specific summer reading lists. </p></div>
