Community Invited to Join Katy ISD for Dedication of its Transportation CentersCommunity Invited to Join Katy ISD for Dedication of its Transportation Centers2018-02-23T22:21:28Z<div class="ExternalClass345CF2B0BF5E4252BD449EB2606EBC89"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">It takes a special kind of person to drive a school bus.</span><span style="text-align:justify;">  </span><span style="text-align:justify;">Katy Independent School District takes great pride in its bus drivers because they make an impact!</span><span style="text-align:justify;">  </span><span style="text-align:justify;">They are oftentimes the first and last district employee that many students see each day. In 1931, Katy ISD only had two school buses. Today it has over 650 buses which transport 51,000 students each day.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">"Our bus drivers are amazing people!" said Chief Operations Officer Lee Crews. "They are constantly building positive relationships with students and creating a legacy of outstanding service to our students, staff and district."</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Katy ISD is honored to dedicate its three transportation centers after bus drivers who have left remarkable legacies.  Anna Baker, Cyndy Self and Lester Floyd Reinecker II touched the hearts of many, especially the students they transported every day.  With this ceremony, Katy ISD highlights the values of these great individuals for generations to come.</p><p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>What:<br></strong>Katy ISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Lance Hindt invite you to the dedication ceremony of the West, South & East Transportation Centers.  Part of the dedication ceremony will include a performance by a Katy High School 2009 Alumni.  A special presentation will be delivered by Congressman John Culbertson, Representative John Zerwas and Mayor Pro Tem Duran C.
