Kindle winners from Rotary clubKindle winners from Rotary club2018-05-18T18:43:30Z<div class="ExternalClass82F85BE98F9A40239146866C5D25C86F"><p>​<a href="/campus/CJH/Documents/Kindle%20Awards%2005%2018%202018.jpg">Kindle Awards 05 18 2018.jpg</a>​</p><p>Cardiff Junior High thanks the Bear Creek Copperfield Rotary Club for their support of literacy in schools and their generous donation of six Kindles!  The Kindles were awarded to six students who were selected from among the school's top readers of the school year.  Many students read 50 plus books for the year!  Of these students, two were drawn for each grade level.  Pictured here are five of the recipients: Gabby Rodriguez, Ashley Benetiz, Mercedes Fernandez, Chude Osode and Leah Padilla.  Awarding the Kindles was Bob Meek, Rotary President; Jim Trebes, past President; and Scott Rounds, Principal.</p><p> </p></div>
2018 Katy ISD Board Election Results2018 Katy ISD Board Election Results2018-05-06T02:36:14Z<div class="ExternalClassC5CF6D94358F4A45A7B30EA7EDE48108"><p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>KATY [May 5, 2018]</strong> – Katy ISD voters elected candidates Susan Gesoff for Position 6 and Dawn Champagne for Position 7 to serve on the Katy ISD Board of Trustees today.  Trustees Bryan Michalsky (Position 6) and Charles Griffin (Position 7) decided not to run again.  Katy ISD trustees are the governing body of the school district and are the main advising group that oversees and shapes policies.  Individuals serving as board members are not employees of Katy ISD, yet they dedicate countless hours to lead an A+ school district. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">The unofficial results are:</p><ul><li>Susan Gesoff:  Position 6  -Total votes: 3,324</li></ul><ul><li>Scott Martin:  Position 6 - Total votes: 2,182</li></ul><p><br></p><ul><li><p>Dawn Champagne:  Position 7 - Total votes: 3,025</p></li><li><p>Don Massey: Position 7 - Total votes: 2,629</p></li></ul><p style="text-align:justify;">View for the <a href="/dept/sb/Pages/Board-Election.aspx">complete list of election results</a>.</p></div>
Katy ISD Breaks Ground on New Junior High and High SchoolKaty ISD Breaks Ground on New Junior High and High School2018-05-02T22:10:00Z<div class="ExternalClass804C03D39B9242F595228ECE717FFE9E"><p>​As community development continues around the Cross Creek Ranch subdivision, today the magnified sounds of the Seven Lakes High School (SLHS) Spartan Drumline could be heard for blocks as the groundbreaking ceremony of Junior High #16 and High School #9 took place.  Both schools will alleviate the thriving southwest quadrant of the district and provide relief to existing campuses that currently house students in the surrounding boundaries. </p><p>"Within the walls of these schools, future leaders will be taught, memories will be made and educational opportunities will prepare and inspire," said Superintendent Lance Hindt.  "The construction of these campuses will be a new opportunity for this neighborhood and our community at large, to invest in our students as they create their future," added Hindt.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The buildings will be constructed as part of the 2017 voter-approved bond program.  These educational facilities will not only be state-of-the-art buildings with collaborative spacing and leading edge technology, but they will be equipped with quality educators which make Katy ISD one of the best schools in the country. The construction of both facilities is another example of Katy ISD's promise to the community to provide unparalleled learning experiences to all students.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Also participating in the ceremonial turning of dirt was the general contractors Drymalla and Satterfield & Pontikes as well as PBK Architects, Inc.  </p><p>​Missed the event?  <a href="https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1810353372318077.1073742102.113148448705253&type=1&l=41ec9c6726">Click here</a> for pictures of the groundbreaking ceremony.</p><p><img src="/PublishingImages/Lists/latestnews/AllItems/JH16%20and%20HS9.jpg" alt="JH16 and HS9.jpg" style="margin:5px;" /><br></p></div>
