2017 Bond Recommendation Presented to the Katy ISD Board2017 Bond Recommendation Presented to the Katy ISD Board2017-07-18T19:37:51Z<div class="ExternalClassECD570E404FD486085BB3622C9C5F5AC"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">During the monthly Katy ISD Board of Trustees Work Study meeting the 2017 Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) Chairman presented the Committee's $609.2 MM recommended bond package which addresses rapid growth and the near-term needs of the district.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Since early April, Committee members have attended numerous meetings as well as received and assessed extensive and detailed information in order to develop a bond package.  Members agreed on a final bond package which includes funds for six new schools, renovations and expansions at existing facilities, enhanced student technology, safety and security upgrades among other items.  The Committee's bond package also ensures a zero tax rate increase.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Student enrollment has grown by approximately 2,800 students per year in Katy ISD.  The district currently has an enrollment of more than 76,000 students.  According to the district's demographer, Population and Survey Analysts (PASA), by 2023 nearly 90,000 students will attend Katy ISD schools and over 98,000 students will call the district their home by 2026.  </p><p>For more information on the 2017 recommended bond package please visit:<br> <a href="http://tinyurl.com/katyisdbondpackage"><strong>http://tinyurl.com/katyisdbondpackage</strong></a></p><p><br></p></div>
STAAR Grades 3-8 Test Results are Available in the Home Access Center and the State Student PortalSTAAR Grades 3-8 Test Results are Available in the Home Access Center and the State Student Portal2017-07-10T00:30:07Z<div class="ExternalClass3ED5044A8A314A44A7921514BBD457EF"> ​ <p>TEA has redesigned the process and communication of reporting the student test results for the 2017 STAAR administrations. Parents may view the 2017 STAAR grades 3-8 test results using either the Home Access Center (HAC) or the online state Student Data Portal. The HAC contains STAAR test results and your child’s unique access code for the state student portal, please  <a href="/dept/assessment/Pages/State-Assessment.aspx">click here for directions</a>. </p><p>The new STAAR report card also known as a Confidential Student Report (CSR), will be posted on Friday, June 30, 2017 at <a href="https://www.texasassessment.com/">TexasAssessment.com</a>. The goal of this new design was to create a family-friendly report on student progress, specifically highlighting growth and improvement.  For additional details, about the new STAAR report card, parents can visit the <a href="http://tea.texas.gov/studentreport/">TEA website</a>.</p><p>If you do not have internet access or you have questions about STAAR test results, please contact your child’s campus for assistance. </p></div>
Redesigned STAAR Report Cards Redesigned STAAR Report Cards 2017-05-19T15:33:35Z<div class="ExternalClass1CC69AB545F2458E975417D0DF9FA3C2"><p>The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has redesigned the STAAR report cards also referred to as confidential student reports (CSRs) to improve communication and transparency with educators and families.  The goal of this new design was to create a family-friendly report on student progress, specifically highlighting growth and improvement.  The new two-page CSR features are listed below:</p><ul><li>Growth and progress information</li><li>A summer reading list</li><li>Lexile levels and trend data</li><li>New performance level descriptors </li><li>Resources and suggestions for parents to use at home</li><li>Suggested questions for parents to ask teachers and counselors </li></ul><p>At this time, TEA has published <a href="http://tea.texas.gov/studentreport/">learning resources</a> which include a short video to explain the changes, as wells as, a link to download the presentation and talking points, templates of STAAR report cards for each grade, and online tools and resources. The new CSRs will be available online beginning June 13, 2017 for STAAR EOC and June 30, 2017 for STAAR 3-8.</p><p>On June 13th, TEA is also launching a new CSR website, which will include item-level analysis for each question on the STAAR, informational videos, and links to additional resources. For the first time, parents and teachers who log in will be able to see actual test questions from the current year's STAAR exam. They will also find information on boosting reading levels and developing student-specific summer reading lists. </p></div>
