The curb has been painted to reflect this new change. If there are no available visitor parking spots in the front of the school, we invite you to either park in the staff parking lot or in the street.

With the colder weather, we have seen an increase of unexcused tardies in the morning. Please remember, all students who enter the building after 8:00am are considered tardy and will need parents to check them in. We are also seeing an increase of early checkouts in the afternoon. At times, students may have doctor appointments and some unforeseen circumstances. With that said, your child benefits from being here all day. Please keep in mind that tardies/early checkouts mean that there is more classroom interruptions, which distracts from the flow of instruction. If your child leaves early or is tardy, he or she is not benefiting from a full day of instruction, which in turn could cause them to fall behind. We are here to partner with you to ensure that your child succeeds in school. Having a routine that allows them to be on time and present for every class greatly benefits your child. Thank you for partnering with us to making the most of your child's learning.

Yearbook Ads for Sale

Yearbook ads are on sale now. We offer 2 size ads, 1/8 page, and 1/4 page. Sales end 2/16/19, don't miss out on this lasting memory. Maybe your child isn’t ready to put in an 8-hour day at the office (who is!?), but he or she can still do significant work that will help your family and others. From taking out the trash, to doing dishes, folding laundry, or lending a hand to the neighbor, there are age-appropriate tasks that all kids can do. Doing this work will make them feel important, needed, and connected to others. So don’t miss it. This month, look for work that develops independent habits in your child.

This month, choose one volunteer opportunity that your family would like to partake in. Options might include volunteering at the local senior center to serve a meal, volunteering at your church or simply picking up trash around the local park. Lending a hand to help someone else is always a good idea and can be made a priority this month.

Book Suggestions on Service:

Rescue and Jessica: A Life-Changing Friendship by Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes (1-5)

Diana’s White House Garden by Elisa Lynn Carbone (K-5)

The One Day House by Julia Durango (K-3)

Marvelous Cornelius: Hurricane Katrina and the Spirit of New Orleans by Phil Bildner (K-3)

Little Elliot, Big City by Mike Curato (PreK – 1)

Shoeshine Girl by Robert Clyde Bulla (3-5)

Sprout Helps Out by Rosie Winstead (K-3)

How to Heal a Broken Wing by Bob Graham (K-2)

The Secret School by Avi (3-6)

Washday by Eve Bunting (K-3)

A Symphony of Whales by Steve Schuch (1-5)

The Mitten Tree by Candice Christiansen (K-2)

The Cats in Krasinski Square by Karen Hesse (3-5)

“I Have a Little Problem,” Said the Bear by Heinz Janisch (K-2)

Elmer and the Butterfly by David McKee (K-2)

Amelia Bedelia Helps Out by Peggy Parish (K-3)

Can I Help? By Marilyn Janovitz (PreK-1)

The Curious Garden by Peter Brown (K-3)

Lost and Found Cat: The True Story of Kunkush’s Incredible Journey by Doug Kuntz (K-5)

Try these links for great video suggestions about Service:

Service Character Trades

Sesame Street: Gina Explains Service Dogs

Kid President- How To Change The World (a work in progress)

A Story About Service

What is Community Service?

Please contact Fe Cooper (fecooper@katyisd.org), school counselor, if you would like additional resources.

2017-2018 WCE Federal Report Card

Katy ISD is sharing information about the state, district and your child’s campus as part of our obligations under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).
