Our school counselor's main responsibilities include conducting guidance lessons, visiting with individual students, serving as a resource for parents and staff members, and collaborating with staff members to address academic concerns.
Each month, our campus will focus on one character trait known as the Core Essential Value. We kick of each Core Essential on the first Wednesday of the month by wearing a certain color and discussing the Core Essential on morning announcements. Parents receive a Core Essential family take home sheet that includes activities you can do at home to support this program.
Mrs. Oberg enjoys visiting with students, and assisting them in solving their own problems. She believes this helps children take responsibility for their actions, and encourages them to recognize behaviors that are detrimental to their personal growth. If you believe your child would benefit from visiting with her, or if there is a change in your home environment or family system, and you would like for Mrs. Oberg to talk to him/her about it, feel free to call or email her. If more involved counseling is necessary, she will be happy to provide you with a list of private counselors/therapists in this area.
