Stadium Lane and last approximately one hour. Information in Spanish will be available at the 7 p.m. session in the Board Room.

Alene Lindley, Director of Secondary Curriculum, GT and Advanced Academics, and Nancy Hess, GT and Advanced Academic Studies Instructional Officer, will present an overview of the advanced academic studies in Katy ISD and will address commonly asked questions about student participation in Pre-Advanced Placement courses.

A Pre-AP course is designed to prepare students to be successful in Advanced Placement (AP) courses. AP courses are generally available to juniors and seniors at each of the Katy ISD high schools. AP courses provide students the opportunity to engage in college level studies with the option of taking an AP exam and possibly qualifying for college credit. In addition, research indicates that students who participate in an Advanced Placement course are more likely to complete an undergraduate program, more likely to choose academically challenging majors in college and more likely to pursue an advanced degree. Katy ISD offers Advanced Placement courses in the following disciplines – English, social studies, science, mathematics, languages other than English, computer science, music and art.
