University of St Thomas Dance Audition

DANCE BFA/BA AUDITIONS

Video Audition Guidelines

UST dance is now accepting video auditions from dancers of potential and passion, who are interested in pursuing a BFA or BA in Dance at the University of St. Thomas. As a new dance program, we are able to guide you in your own interests in the multi-faceted field of dance, including performance, dance education, dance therapy, or related interests. We hope our dancers will develop mind, body, and spirit, and, thus, we are looking for you to share with us who you are as an individual in your videos.

Video Guidelines:

1-3 minutes of you dancing

You may dance any style (Ballet, Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, or any global form such as Folklorico or African Dance). Please show us your strengths, and please wear dance attire appropriate to that style, if you have it.

You may share material from your dance classes, an improvisation, or a solo choreographed by yourself or others. Chose material that shows your training, interests, and abilities as they are at this moment.

You may film on your phone, in your home or wherever you can find space. Do not worry about perfection. We understand that there are limits to space at the moment. It is best to film in a landscape or horizontal orientation.

If you have material from a previous performance or class, that is wonderful. Just be sure to make clear which dancer is you, if there are others in the video!

Upload the video to your preferred sharing service, such as YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, or Google. You may also share the file if you can compress it to send in an email.

Please include your name in the video or title.

Please send your link to Dance Program Director, Jennifer Mabus at mabusj@stthom.edu.
