Welcome to the Nurse’s Page!
Here you will find virtually all the information you will need regarding campus and district guidelines for student illnesses and medications.
Your child is required to be up to date on all immunizations in order to attend school. If or when it is found that your child is or will be behind on a vaccination, the nurse will send a note home, so be sure to check their take-home folder daily. There are many resources in the community that offer free or reduced-cost vaccination clinics. Please call the nurse to find out about these opportunities.
If you choose not to vaccinate your child, you must turn in a notarized, original state-issued affidavit for “Reasons of Conscience” to the clinic.
Katy ISD policy requires that students with vomiting, diarrhea or fever of 100 degrees or greater MUST stay home. They must remain at home until symptom-free for more than 24 hours without the use of medications, such as Tylenol, Motrin, Imodium, Pepto Bismol, etc. If your child has been diagnosed with an infection disease (ex: Chickenpox, Measles, strep throat, pink eye, lice, etc), please notify the nurse as soon as possible. If they have been injured and must refrain from strenuous physical activity, it is the parent’s responsibility to send a note to school to excuse the child from PE or recess.
Students may NOT carry medication with them at school. All medication must be turned into the nurse in its original packaging and must be accompanied by the district Medication Permission form (refer to the Quick Links box to the right to find these Clinic Forms) or a hand written note from a parent, including:
Certain medications cannot be administered in the school setting. Please call the nurse for further information.
Every child should eat a well-balanced breakfast before class every day to help them remain focused on classwork. Please refer to the Quick Links box to the right for Breakfast Ideas.
Each student should have a change of clothes in their backpack, including socks, in case of accidents or emergencies. We also accept donations of clothing: pants and shirts only.
Please make sure your phone numbers and emergency contact numbers are updated regularly, so we may contact you immediately if your child becomes ill.
