What is PBIS?
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an approach to teaching and supporting positive behaviors while meeting the needs of ALL students. This school-wide approach to discipline focuses on building a safe and positive environment in which all students can learn. The foundation of PBIS at King Elementary is PRIDE:
P Positive Attitude
In addition to our behavior expectations, PBIS has four other components: 1) a behavior matrix which explains behavior expectation in each school setting; 2) direct teaching of the expectations; 3) PBIS recognition (King Cash); 4) Reflection sheets to record and address inappropriate behaviors.
Consequences for Inappropriate Behaviors
At times, children may not make the best behavior choices and need redirection. To address inappropriate behaviors or not following expectations, a campus wide continuum will be implemented.
