Specials - Music
Name: Nancy Lawrence
"We are dedicated to our students success by helping them build on their strengths and keeping their confidence high, so they can believe anything is possible with dedication. Our goal in specials is to bring out the creativity in all our students and provide the instruction, support and encouragement to help them become FANTASTIC!"
Welcome to another exciting year at NCE!
We are looking forward to having your child actively participating in Specials!
IDs - This year we are all adjusting to having the entire school wear their IDs all day. In keeping with the policy in their classrooms, the students will wear their IDs to Specials. If the IDs become a distraction during class, students will be instructed to tuck them inside their shirts.
Devices – Students will be notified through their homeroom teachers if they need to bring their devices to Specials.
WatchDOGS – We welcome having our NCE WatchDOGS in our classrooms. Thanks for taking an active role in your child's education. Plan to play in P.E. games, assist at art tables, and sing a solo in music (just kidding!)
In the Music Room:
It's hard to believe that you're getting closer and closer to being a middle school student. By the way, if you're new to NCE, you're going to love it here! Our intermediate grade levels start to focus on things in music that will help them put together various music facts that they've learned when they were in the primary grades. It's going to be a great year in Music. Be sure to watch for my tweets @Lawrencenote. You'll get to see some of the fun things we do, including our 5th grade choir the "Singing Knights". Watch for more info later about choir camp. Our 5th grade choir will be meeting
on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:15-4:00pm.
Our main focus in the primary grades is to get a good foundation in music skills, like the steady beat vs. rhythm of the words. We'll spend a lot of time echoing rhythm patterns and marching around the room. A special welcome to all of our new NCE families. Be sure to watch for my tweets @Lawrencenote.
