Katy Independent School District

Memorial Parkway Elementary

Nurse's Corner""

Mrs. Barbier, RN

Notes from the Nurse:

Hard to believe we are at the end of January!

It has definitely been an interesting school year so far with all of our

weather changes!

Below are a few reminders regarding our student's health and wellness:

1. FLU SEASON - it has been a very active flu season this year and is

expected to continue for another 11-13 weeks per reports. As

you know influenza can make children and adults very ill. It is

not too late to get the VACCINE!

REMEMBER: KISD policy is that if a child has fever of 100

degrees or higher, they are not to attend school until they are

fever free for 24 hours without medication(Tylenol, ibuprofen)

on board. This is also the policy for nausea and vomiting(no

symptoms for 24 hours without medication).

2. IMMUNIZATIONS - we are still monitoring all immunizations to

keep your student up to date. KISD is very diligent in having

the school nurses monitor these all school year. Preschool

students will be receiving reminders to bring home to remind

parents to have them get their 4year old boosters if they have

not already received them. These will need to be done prior

the beginning of kindergarten.

3. VISION & HEARING- the clinic has sent out 2nd reminders if your

child received a referral for failed screening. Please remember

that the clinic does have community resources available if you

need assistance.
