Message for Parents of Katy ISD 7th Grade StudentsMessage for Parents of Katy ISD 7th Grade Students2015-06-08T22:30:09Z

Parents of Katy ISD 7th Grade Students –

Katy ISD has just been alerted by Pearson, the test contractor for STAAR exams, of a reporting error on all 7th grade Confidential Student Reports (CSR) that were sent home. In the STAAR Writing section, there are two scores reported for the writing compositions. One score for the Expository composition, and one score for the Personal Narrative composition. The scores are reversed on the report you received.

For example, if your child's CSR shows 10/16 for Expository, and 8/16 for Personal Narrative, your child actually scored 8/16 for Expository and 10/16 for Personal Narrative.

This error does not impact your child's overall writing score, Level II: Met Satisfactory standard, or Level III: Advanced standard. Accurate CSRs will be sent home in early fall with correct composition scores and will be updated to include the new math standards when they are set.

If you have any questions, please contact your child's Principal.

Katy ISD to Host Phone Bank, Answer Questions Regarding Transportation Services and SurveyKaty ISD to Host Phone Bank, Answer Questions Regarding Transportation Services and Survey2015-01-15T22:07:22Z

Address concerns regarding potential changes proposed in survey

District representatives will be on hand to answer questions from parents and community members regarding Katy ISD Transportation Services and the current Transportation Sustainability Survey during the phone bank on January 16, 20 and 21.

The community-at-large can call with questions or concerns to 281-396-6008 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Bilingual representatives will also be available.

Due to challenges in bus driver recruitment and retention, alongside enrollment growth of nearly 3,000 students yearly, Katy ISD's transportation system is facing mounting pressure. Therefore, the District is searching for solutions to adequately sustain the current transportation model. Some of the potential options include switching to a multi-bell schedule which would impact the start and end times of all campuses and modifying the distance service.

Therefore, Katy ISD is asking all parents and community members to take the Transportation Sustainability Survey to provide the District feedback on current use and the proposed changes. The survey will be available until Wednesday, January 21 and can be accessed online in English and Spanish at www.katyisd.org.

The Transportation Sustainability Survey covers four topics: current transportation methods, utilization of district transportation, transportation preferences, and school start and end times.

Once the survey closes on January 21, District leaders will use the results to provide transportation recommendations. Their recommendations will be presented to the Board of Trustees in February or March.
