Read, Deed, and Run is a year-long program in which students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade meet after school  to run one mile or perform a deed. During the course of the program students read 26 books or 2,600 pages, perform 26 good deeds in our community, and run 26.2 miles.  Read, Deed, Run culminates in May with a 1.2 mile fun run in which Katy ISD participants earn their "marathon" finisher's shirt and medal. 

How to join Read, Deed, and Run:

  1. Submit an application and a $20 fee to your teacher by September 20, 2017​​​.  The fee includes a training shirt, a Finisher's shirt, a Finisher's medal and deed materials.
  2.  Hutsell Read, Deed and Run Coaches will read the applications and choose students to participate based on their responses​.​​​​​
  3. Students chosen to participate will receive a letter of congratulations and their parents MUST attend the mandatory parent meeting on September 20.​
  4. Attend the bi-monthly meetings (see calendar) from 3:45 - 4:45 pm in the library, bring the appropriate running attire and RDR folder to each meeting.
