Administrators from all Katy ISD campuses will be available to talk to educators who aspire to become part of this growing school district.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">"This job fair is a perfect opportunity for a certified teacher to introduce themselves to Katy ISD," says Human Resources Coordinator Katye Shields.  "Katy ISD is known as a Texas premier school district because of its devoted educators who take pride in their role of helping students create a bright future," added Shields.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">This year, Katy ISD enrolled close to 2,800 additional students and it's expected to open up several schools in the coming years.  No pre-registration or fee is required.  Participants must show proof of certification and it is recommended that they complete an application on the <a href="/dept/hr/Pages/default.aspx">Katy ISD website</a> in advance and bring enough resumes to share at the fair.</p><p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>What:</strong><strong>             <br></strong>Katy ISD 2019 Certified Teacher Fair</p><p><strong>Where:</strong>           <br>Leonard E. Katy ISD Participates in 2019 National Prescription Drug Take Back EventKaty ISD Participates in 2019 National Prescription Drug Take Back Event3/29/2019 3:12:17 PM<div class="ExternalClass2483F556F55E4CD694A7F4B8005C1799"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">The Katy ISD Police Department in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public an opportunity to safely dispose of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications.  According to the DEA, pharmaceutical drugs can be just as dangerous as street drugs when taken without a prescription or a doctor's supervision.  Needles or sharp objects will not be accepted and any liquids must be in prescribed containers.  The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">"The Prescription Drug Take Back initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue," said Katy ISD Police Chief Robert Jinks.  "Families could be harboring dangerous prescription drugs in their own medicine cabinet without even knowing it.  This event allows residents to have a better and safe option to dispose of these items," added Jinks.</p><p>Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.  Last April, Americans turned in 309 tons (over 617,000 pounds) of prescription drugs at nearly 5,500 sites operated by the DEA. </p><p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>What:             <br>National Prescription Drug Take Back Event</strong></p><p><strong>Where:</strong>           <br>Mark L. Katy ISD Announces Region IV Principal HonoreesKaty ISD Announces Region IV Principal Honorees3/4/2019 5:24:32 PM<div class="ExternalClassA277FEFEFAEC42AD9EB186C97179B1F9"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">Katy Independent School District recently announced Golbow Elementary Principal Dr. Ann Lalime and Morton Ranch High School Principal Julie Hinson as Katy ISD Principals of the Year as well as honorees for the Region IV Principal Recognition.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Both school administrators were selected by their peers for their ability and willingness to make meaningful contributions to education, their desire for continuous personal and professional growth as well as their ability to inspire Katy ISD students and staff to reach their goals.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Dr. Lalime has worked in the field of education for 25 years including 10 years as a principal, eight years as assistant principal, one year as an instructional specialist and six years as a teacher.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">"It is an honor and privilege to serve the students, staff and community at Golbow Elementary," said Dr. Ann Lalime.  "I am always amazed by how our staff goes above and beyond to work together to help our students grow every day.  We have created a bright vision for the future and the possibilities are unlimited for our students," said Lalime.</p><p>Julie Hinson has 21 years of experience in education, 17 of which she has been at Katy ISD.  This is her fourth year as principal for the District.  Hinson opened up Morton Ranch High School (MRHS) as the first head swim coach and math teacher and has been at MRHS for 12 of the 15 years the school has been open.<br><span style="text-align:justify;"><br>"I am passionate about providing our students a voice to effect change in their world," said MRHS Principal Julie Hinson.  "When they shake my hand at graduation, they are young adults ready to take risks, accept challenges, and use their voice as proud Mavericks," added Hinson.  </span><br></p><p>Both principals, along with campus administrators from school districts in the surrounding area, will participate in a recognition ceremony at the Region IV Principal Recognition ceremony on April 3 at Hotel Zaza.</p><p style="text-align:center;"><img src="/PublishingImages/Lists/latestnews/AllItems/030419_GE_Dr.%20Ann%20Lalime4.jpg" alt="030419_GE_Dr. Ann Lalime4.jpg" style="margin:5px;width:416px;" /><br></p><p style="text-align:center;">Dr. Ann Lalime – Principal at Golbow Elementary School<br><img src="/PublishingImages/Lists/latestnews/AllItems/030419_MRHS_Julie%20Hinson.jpg" alt="030419_MRHS_Julie Hinson.jpg" style="margin:5px;width:516px;" /><br></p><p style="text-align:center;">Julie Hinson – Principal at Morton Ranch High School<br></p></div>
