Loraine T. Golbow has had the privilege of serving the Katy community for more than 20 years. At Golbow Elementary we do what is best for kids.  Golbow is proud to offer an environment that provides a warm and nurturing atmosphere that supports academic excellence.  We believe students and staff are life-long learners.

A variety of learning opportunities are available for students and staff.  Staff members are committed to targeting instruction using a variety of resources and data.  Differentiated instruction is provided to ensure that the needs of all students are met.

The staff at Golbow continues to grow professionally by participating in various trainings throughout the year such as:

·         Model Drawing Problem Solving

·         5 E Model of Instruction

Loraine T. Golbow also offers a certified science lab facilitator who collaborates with classroom teachers to create a hands on approach to science investigations.  The fine arts teachers challenge students to explore their creativity and promote innovative thinking to provide a well-rounded student.  Many of our students have participated in projects both inside and outside of Katy.

We work in conjunction with parents and community members to provide students with a variety of experiences such as:

·         KEYS (Keep Encouraging Youth Towards Success) Mentoring Program

·         PTA Programs

·         VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools)

·         PIE (Partners in Education)

Facility Improvements

Previous bond packages authorized by voters in 1994, 1996, 1999,  2002 and 2010 funded the following major projects at Golbow Elementary:

  • new carpet/flooring
  • lighting retrofit
  • technology retrofits
  • a new phone system including telephones for all teachers
  • main entrance security
  • construction of playground fences

Thanks to the support of our voters in the future Golbow will be receiving:

  • Generator, Fire Alarm, PA/Intercom, Clock System Replacement
  • Technology Package
