Testing Information for Katy ISD StudentsTesting Information for Katy ISD Students2019-05-10T19:35:49Z<div class="ExternalClassCE2603247FFB4E86B563DD9536D1A5E6"><p>Due to the closure of Katy ISD campuses and facilities today, testing information for elementary, junior high, and high school students is as follows:</p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Elementary and Junior High:</strong></span></p><p>STAAR 3-8 testing will continue as scheduled starting Monday, May 13.</p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>High School:</strong></span></p><p>STAAR EOC make-up tests for tests that were administered this week, will take place on Monday, May 13.  AP exams scheduled for Friday, May 10 will be administered on Thursday, May 23.</p><p>Campus principals intend to communicate the status of their campus events and activities scheduled for this evening and weekend via separate enews throughout today and later this evening.<br></p></div>

class="ExternalClass9309B8C8791743488DCD96A1D216F3C8"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">Fifteen Katy Independent School District Destination Imagination (DI) Teams headed to the 2019 Texas DI State Tournament, recently held in Corpus Christi, Texas, and of the 15 teams, five are now advancing to the Global Competition in Kansas City, Missouri on May 22-26.</span><br></p><p Eyes Team</em> from Seven Lakes High School finished first in the state and was awarded a DaVinci Award for Outstanding Design.  The <em>Game for Fame Team</em> from Griffin Elementary received first place in their category and were awarded a Renaissance Award for Outstanding Creativity.  The <em>Unknown Space Scientist Team</em> from Shafer Elementary finished third, the Stockdick Junior High & Beckendorff Junior High the <em>Royal Challengers</em> <em>Team</em> finished fifth and the McMeans Junior High <em>It's Classified Team</em> finished six.</p><p>Destination Imagination is a school-based program devoted to helping students gain practical life skills through interesting, entertaining and mind-boggling challenges.  The program is created and guided by parents, educators and community volunteers who support the art and skill of creative problem solving.  DI seeks to develop the creativity, innovation and imagination of students while working as team members to Katy ISD Names New Superintendent of SchoolsKaty ISD Names New Superintendent of Schools2019-01-15T04:28:34Z<div class="ExternalClass8DBFBD071CF2430A803710635295A9E1"><p>Katy ISD Board of Trustees voted 7-0 to name Ken Gregorski as the new superintendent of schools.<br></p><p>Gregorski is a veteran educator with 26 years of experience in public education. Having served as a teacher, associate principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and deputy superintendent in school districts of different sizes and varying needs, he has demonstrated the ability to lead with determination, vision, and a deep understanding of a community's priorities. He is also the father of two secondary students currently enrolled in Katy ISD schools. </p><p>"It is my mission to provide leadership and direction for Katy ISD to ensure our educational system is based upon the needs of our students, standards of excellence and equity, and on community goals," said new Superintendent of Schools Ken Gregorski.</p><p>During his tenure as deputy superintendent, Gregorski played an integral role in laying the groundwork for the current model of student learning in Katy ISD through his supervision of the School Leadership and Support Department, Human Resources, and the Athletics Department. As superintendent of schools, it is expected that Gregorski will maintain Katy ISD's current direction, sustain its continuity of leadership, and guide the District toward fulfilling the goals of its five-year strategic plan.<br></p><p><img src="/PublishingImages/Lists/latestnews/AllItems/Gregorski,%20Kenneth-%20017%204x5.jpg" alt="Gregorski, Kenneth- 017 4x5.jpg" style="margin:5px;width:444px;" /><br></p></div>
