STUDENT ACTIVITIES and GAMES
The Student Council is comprised of two elected representatives from each fourth and fifth grade class. The goal of Student Council is to develop leadership. Members help plan, coordinate, and communicate service activities throughout the school. Our paper recycling program helps raise awareness of recycling and earns money for our school. A collection of Box Tops for Education generates around $2,000 per year for our school. The money is used to purchase playground equipment, as well as classroom equipment for teachers. We annually conduct a Toys for Tots drive. The proceeds are given to organizations which have some connection to our school, such as Katy Christian Ministries or Texas Children’s Hospital. We have also sent school supplies overseas to needy schools and until December 15, we are we are partnering with Katy ISD, the Katy Rotary Club and the Houston Texans to send books and school supplies to Nri, Nigeria. To learn more about our “books abroad” efforts, select Books Abroad from the Quick Links box to the right.
Katy ISD has provided its elementary, junior high and high school teachers with lessons on internet safety. Much of the material for these lessons is from NetSmartzKids.org. There are two website links that will provide your child with activities and games for your child and teach them about internet safety. “To ensure a safe and positive experience for children, NetSmartzKids.org does not link to any outside sources. You can trust that this site is safe for your children.”
Following is a statement of purpose given by NetSmartz: “Parents or caregivers, educators, government officials, law enforcement, and youth organizations that want to learn more about the Internet and the possible dangers to children online should visit
