Legacy Parent Academy
The Legacy Parent Academy is a new initiative designed to support Strategic Plan Goal 8, which focuses on supporting the emotional well-being of all learners. The Academy is intended to provide parents with information on current topics that impact students and schools district-wide. Academy sessions are supplemental to campus-based programs and initiatives, selected based on expressed need, in response to concerns that we see on our campuses and in our community.
The Legacy Parent Academy webpage, which includes session descriptions and a link to register for sessions is accessible at: http://www.katyisd.org/parents/Pages/Legacy-Parent-Academy.aspx
General Screening for the 2019-2020 Katy ISD Gifted and Talented Program:
All interested students who have not already been screened this school year for the G/T program may pick up a Parent Checklist from the Counselors' office beginning Monday, November 5, 2018.
At the secondary level, students are screened based upon specific subject matter aptitude in one or more content areas. In the screening phase of the identification process, multiple quantitative measures (standardized test scores) and qualitative measures (data gathered from parents and teachers) are examined. Students who meet district criteria for GT placement are eligible to participate in the subject area for which they qualify for the GT program. Screening is available for GT service in the areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies.
The Parent Checklist must be returned to the counseling office no later than
2:30 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Please note that this is a firm deadline.
Once all the forms are in, previous test scores will be reviewed, and a testing schedule will go home with students who need to be tested.

The Request for Additional Screening forms are also due to the counseling office by 2:30 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
