What is Katy Conversations that Count? Over the years, we have worked to demonstrate that the Katy community can count on its school district. Continuing in this effort, we want to bring our community together for the purpose of encouraging communication across neighborhoods, cultures, age groups and denominations.
When is the next Conversations that Count event being held? The first Conversations that Count will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
Where are the events held? Events involving 6 to 8 people are held simultaneously throughout Katy in homes, churches, and restaurants. The events start at 6:00 p.m. and end at around 8:00 p.m. Registered participants are assigned a dinner location.
Who should attend? Any Katy resident interested in thought-provoking group discussion about the community should register. To balance the tables, we need both males and females of all ages. High school students attending can receive community service hours.
How can I participate? You can participate by agreeing to be a host, a facilitator, or a guest.
What do I need to bring? Participants need only bring an open mind and a willingness to share ideas and experiences. Trained facilitators will provide structure to the evening and use techniques designed to minimize debate and maximize sharing and understanding. The host will pay for all meals.
