When we began our 2012 KEYS Scholarship fundraising campaign, Firethorne was our first platinum sponsor, proving that it’s not just a great neighborhood: it’s also a great neighbor. Whether donating solar kits, sponsoring golf tournaments, supporting our Food for Families initiative, or helping out the Katy ISD Future Farmers of America program, our friends at Firethorne always know how to make things better for kids. And they not only support our KEYS Scholarship Program, their employees support KEYS children by sharing an hour each week with them as mentors. |

Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union has committed to supporting Katy ISD students by becoming a 2012 KEYS Scholarship Platinum Sponsor. “Employees at Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union have supported KEYS for more than ten years and know the direct benefit that students are getting from the program,” said Joe Simmons, president and CEO of BVSCU. “It felt natural for us to join forces to help support these students as they enter post-secondary schools.” Founded in 1954, Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union serves educators, faculty, staff, their families and other qualified individuals within a 13-county area of Texas. |

As the consummate big brother, Ray Morris Pratt honed his mentoring skills early in life. At age 17 he persuaded his Mom to sign an age waiver so he could join the United States Army, thus beginning his journey of service. After serving in the Korean Conflict, Ray served four tours of duty in Vietnam, earning three Purple Hearts along the way. Master Sergeant Pratt ultimately became one of the nation’s top recruiters, and when he died in 1991 the Army presented his mother with the Bronze Star, the armed forces fourth highest combat award. Ray Pratt spent his life as a mentor, exemplifying the values and mission of KEYS. As such, his family wishes to honor his legacy through this sponsorship. |

Our Tradition Bank friends hold a special place in our hearts because a check from them was the first deposit made into the KEYS Scholarship Fund’s account in 2006, proving that it’s possible for a bank to be a gold sponsor and also have a heart of gold. Tradition employees read to children and mentor students, and President Downy Vickery, along with other officers, serves on the Partners in Education Advisory Board, adding new meaning to the phrase “all service bank.” |

World renowned Memorial Hermann Hospital’s faithful support of Katy ISD proves that it’s not just a hospital that makes Katy well, it makes Katy thankful. A three-year sponsor of the KEYS Scholarship fund, Memorial Hermann employees read to kids, teach babysitting classes, provide job shadowing opportunities for high school students and CEO Scott Barbe serves on the Partners in Education Advisory Board. And for all of that and more, we are thankful indeed. |

When we think of innovative partnerships we think of Wood Group. Aside from employees participating in the KEYS, Promise to Read and Leadership Katy initiatives, this gold sponsor brought a Theater-in-Residence program to three of our high schools. They’ve sponsored a robotics team, provided Gustaf Holsts’ The Planets DVDs (complete with NASA footage) to every Katy ISD campus and supported KEYS Scholarships for three years. How’s that for innovation? |

When H-E-B says “Here Everything’s Better, they not only have that as a goal for their business, but also their community. They show this desire through their constant support of our Katy ISD campuses. H-E-B Employees volunteer for Junior Achievement, read to students and Store Manager Phil Bittle serves on the Partners in Education Advisory Board. Our four Katy stores collectively donate to Food for Families and, as in past years, the KEYS Scholarship Fund. They give numerous food donations ranging from food for International Days and Breakfast with Santa to projectile vegetables for a Junior High “Punkin Chunkin”! |
